Mobility & Disability Products for Hip / Knee Replacement
There are a number of reasons that an individual will make the choice to have hip or knee replacement surgery. They can include ongoing severe pain and limited mobility due to arthritis, osteoporosis, rheumatoid arthritis or trauma/severe injury to the area after an accident or prolonged sporting injuries and strains. Hip and knee replacement is an invasive surgery that can take between 1.5 – 2hrs under general anaesthetic. During the recovery process, patients are encouraged to get up and walk as soon as physically possible depending on age and mobility. Supporting frames and crutches are used during this period to ensure the joint is in use, blood flow is going to the area and muscle strength is regained whilst not placing too much pressure on the body overall.
